一般描述

物理特征
Es是天然未包衣的红细胞，在典型的测定条件下不会激活补体。 他们不会有 IgG或IgM其表面上，但是，也有在大多数动物血清天然抗体。 在敏感的测定中，估计少至10个IgM / EA可引起裂解，而这需要大约1000个IgG / EA（Ross，GD（1986））。 这主要是因为在IgM中，在每个分子上的固定位置上存在五个紧密间隔的Fc结构域。 IgG分子的间隔更随机，并且在细胞表面上的正确位置发现两个或更多个IgG是相对罕见的。
应用
Es细胞主要用作CH50测定的对照和用于需要未包被的红细胞的专门测试。 如果血清以高浓度使用，人血液中存在于动物抗原中的天然抗体可引起细胞凝集和裂解，然而，这不会干扰CH50滴度，因为在这些测定中使用的EA已经携带高水平的IgM抗体和将血清稀释100倍或更多。 IgG抗体的活性比IgM低100倍，人血液中的大多数交叉反应抗体是IgG。
